Got another restoration question.
I'm working on bringing back a pair of Model 6's and the cabs I got came without any interior fiberglass damping. Can anyone who has a pair of Model 6's let me know how much fiberglass was installed in these. Something tells me they might have had very little or even none.
By the way, the woodgrain on these cabs is incredible.

The wood is called Endriana wood, and yea, it looks VERY sweet!
I have a set of them sitting right here, they have about a 3 inch layer of fiberglass up the back panel. None on the sides, top, or bottom, but there is a slab of it between the port and the little enclosure that the midrange is in.

one more thing, just for aesthetics, they put a black cloth over the fiberglass behind where the port is so you can't see it from the front.
The fiberglass has no paper backing, I think there might be some glue on the back holding it in place.

Charles,
Thanks for the Model 6 info. I'll be adding the fiberglass as per your spec.
The Endriana is indeed something else. I read that the factory finished it with a catalyzed lacquer. The lacquer on mine is pretty roughed up so I'm going to sand them down to the grain and refinish.
I did this with an LF-1 subwoofer table and the resulting grain patterns were like nothing I've seen before. Once you remove the chocolate brown of the stain, the grain reveals shifting patterns of light as you walked around it. People who see it are amazed. I have a feeling the Model 6's will do the same. I plan on applying 3 layers of shellac (sanded) and then experiment with a light color stain. I may go with a slight orange this time...then finish with a poly lacquer.
My wife thinks I'm crazy.
As for your single Model 15...you never know when another garage sale will have the second one. Happy hunting!
